In Prabal Gurung at the Metropolitan Opera Season.
I absolutely DREAD being asked who my celebrity style icon is. You'd be surprised how often people ask me and, um - I don't know! What can I say? Bloggers tend to be my inspiration. Kristabel in printed trousers, Sarah in fitted frocks, Natasha in sports luxe, Jazmine in acres of tulle, Charlie in sleek minimalism. Olivia's beehive, Carrie's red lips, Reena's bob, Nicolette's... well, everything Nicolette wears, basically!
But I'm just not really into celebs as style icons. Don't get me wrong; there's a handful that I love to look at - Miley Cyrus, Tilda Swinton, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence (especially in this outfit), Hugh Laurie and Idris Elba (ok, less about the clothes but he rocks a dickie!) - but there's been no-one that I would really consider my style icon.
But you know who has had a nearly flawless year, style wise? Diane Kruger. Damn, you guys!
I mean: look. LOOK. She is rocking that Chanel couture like nobodies business.
This Jason Wu jumpsuit is in one of my favourite colour combos: navy and black. (I have a fledging Pinterest board devoted to it!) I think the little victory roll in her hair is the perfect finishing touch.
While I legtimately love most of her choices, I'm also often impressed that she can look somehow amazing in things I might consider a little bed-sheet-ish (Carven, left) or super twee and costumey (Chanel, right.)
She wore this awesome navy print dress with yellow shoes to appear on Good Morning America and it's just SO GOOD I can't get over it. (I'm pretending that that Chanel bag is navy, though, because black would be so incongruous...)
She's a powerhouse, seriously. Look at that perfect Mary Katrantzou print! To paraphrase the Go Fug Yourself ladies, she looks like a greenhouse of joy. Look at that skirt and shirt combo! She's killing it in that Vanessa Bruno leather midi and Carven blouse. I want this outfit so bad that I can taste it.
And I've saved the best until last. All that volume in that beautiful Giambattista Valli dress and she still manages to make it look so sleek. Finished with monochrome accessories, perfect pins and a smile - hell yes!
